The Dutch comedy duo of Steffen Haars and Flip van der Kuil have a new project heading our way — and it stars some pretty recognizable faces. Nick Frost ("Shaun of the Dead," "Fighting with My Family") has been tapped to lead the pair's first English-language feature, which is already gaining some pretty intense buzz. In a statement to Variety, Haars and van der Kuil said, "It's a dream come true working with this amazing, talented cast on our most insane movie yet." That's one hell of a claim considering these are the folks who made the cocktail of absurdity and vulgarity known as "Ron Goossens, Low Budget Stuntman."

Frost also spoke with Variety and said, "'Krazy House' has been a completely bonkers project to be a part of and I've absolutely loved every minute of it." This is also certainly quite a claim, as Nick Frost is somewhat synonymous with wild, wacky, and wonderful comedy films. If the man who introduced the world to the term "c**kicidal maniac" is saying a film is "bonkers," it's worth paying attention. Here's everything we know so far about "Krazy House."

What We Know About The Release Date Of Krazy House

Principal photography of the dark comedy film was completed in Amsterdam back in February, but there's no telling how long the post-production process will take.

A release date hasn't been announced just yet, but XYZ Films has signed on to represent North American sales on "Krazy House." The company was behind the distribution of films like "Nocebo," "Piggy," "Sissy," and "Something in the Dirt," all genre titles that made a heck of an impact upon theatrical release, and found a second life once arrived on streamers. XYZ Films doesn't have an exclusive streaming home — instead, it ensures each title winds up where it has the strongest chance of finding its audience.

Meanwhile, over in Steffen Haars and Flip van der Kuil's home territory, Splendid Films has grabbed distribution rights for "Krazy House" in the Benelux region. Benelux is a portmanteau of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.

What Is Krazy House About?

Set in the 1990s, "Krazy House" is about a religious homemaker named Bernie (Nick Frost) who discovers that the workmen hired to make home repairs are actually Russian criminals planning on looting the house and robbing them of whatever they can get their hands on. Now, Bernie and his family are stuck in a dangerous situation, forced to rip apart their own home looking for treasure, but there will be plenty of bleakly hilarious moments of levity as Bernie slowly loses his mind trying to keep his family safe.

The Cast Of Krazy House

Nick Frost, Alicia Silverstone ("Clueless"), and Kevin Connolly ("Entourage") are set to star in the dark comedy film, with Dutch Gaite Jansen ("Leopard Skin"), Walt Klink ("Neontetra"), Jan Bijvoet ("Borgman"), Chris Peters ("Penoza"), and Matti Stooker ("Pirates Down the Street") rounding out the cast.

While Frost is playing the lead in Bernie, it's assumed that Silverstone will be playing his wife. Little information about the characters has been made public, but during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in February, Silverstone spoke positively of the experience.

"In terms of my work, I'm having nothing but fun now," Silverstone added, "I had a ball in Amsterdam, making a film with these amazing interesting filmmakers. I'm really happy with my life."

/Film spoke with Ms. Silverstone last year before the release of her shark flick, "The Requin" — she's been taking on some unique roles in recent years. Based on what we know about "Krazy House," this sounds like a great chance for Silverstone to remind folks that she's more than just a '90s icon.

What We Know About The Krazy House Creative Team

"Krazy House" comes from writers-directors Steffen Haars and Flip van der Kuil, known as the founding members of the Dutch comedy group "New Kids." They made waves at the Dutch box office with "New Kids Turbo," "Bro's Before Ho's," and "Ron Goossens: Low Budget Stuntman." The creative pair have become mainstays at the annual Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, having previously been awarded jury prizes for both best feature and best director.

Maarten Swart is producing the film for Kaap Holland Film, in a co-production with Haars and van der Kuil. Jorn Baars of Kaap Holland Film and XYZ's Todd Brown are serving as executive producers. The film was made with the support of the Netherlands Film Fund, the Netherlands Film Production Incentive, and the Abraham Tuschinski Fund Foundation.
