February is the shortest month, and yet this February seemed extra-long somehow. Maybe that’s just how life is now. But March is almost upon us, and it’s bound to be a weird one, because we’re about to enter a full year of dealing with COVID-19. Feel free to distract yourself from all of this with some movies and TV, folks. To help with that, here are the best TV shows and movies coming to Netflix in March 2021.
The Dark Knight
It feels slightly basic to be highlighting The Dark Knight, but the fact of the matter is even after all these years, after all the mega-hype has died down, Christopher Nolan‘s superhero pic maintains its strength. It’s a fine-tuned thriller with some truly stunning action set pieces – that chase scene! – and an all-time-great performance from Heath Ledger as the Joker.
Murder Among the Mormons
This three-part docuseries from directors Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) and Tyler Measom (An Honest Liar) chronicles a series of pipe bomb attacks in Salt Lake City in 1985, and their connection to the Mormon LDS Church. It’s a fascinating, likely forgotten little story that thankfully doesn’t overstay its welcome like so many other true crime docuseries these days.
Training Day
I recently rewatched Training Day, and I have to tell you: it doesn’t exactly hold up. There are plot holes galore and several of the decisions the characters make border on ludicrous. And yet! The film survives because it has a killer performance from Denzel Washington, playing the ultimate crooked cop from hell. Washington isn’t just chewing the scenery here, he’s devouring it, and it’s a blast to watch him work.
The BFG
Lots of people seem to dislike Steven Spielberg‘s The BFG. And the movie is one of Spielberg’s rare box office bombs. But let me tell you – The BFG is charming as hell. I did an entire podcast episode about it, in fact. Admittedly, the project is thin on story, but what it lacks it more than makes up for with charm. Also, this film features Spielberg’s only real fart joke, and it’s a pretty damn great fart joke if I do say so myself.
Jason X
Jason X is the Friday the 13th movie where Jason Voorhees goes to space. What more do you need to know, really? “Oh, but is it good, Chris?” No, it’s not good. It’s great.

As Hofmann fights for his life, investigators race to uncover the truth. Bombay Rose is directed by Gitanjali Rao and produced by Cinestaan Film Company/Les Films d’ici.
